LEAGUE RULES
Tournaments
The league holds two tournaments a year (2/year), Fall and Spring seasons, and plays a number of games based on the number of teams per occurrence in a season, and the post-season comprises the teams with the best records. The number of teams to advance to the post-season is contingent on the league teams’ total/75 percentile. Rainy game delay or cancellation is to be coordinated between the city of the plantation and the league coordinator. Games not being played for unforeseen circumstances are to be rescheduled in concertation with the City personnel and BPL management.
Games time
Games are played every Sunday either @ 7:00 PM on Pine Island Field (320 S. Pine Island RD., Plantation, FL. 33324), or Central Park, in Plantation (9151 NW 2nd Street, Plantation, FL. 33324)
Cost of participation and illegal player
The cost of registration is $ 80.00. Every player is to receive a complete set of uniforms once/a year (Fall Season) unless a player is in a new team. Only new or switched teams’ players will receive newly printed jerseys. The player is responsible for shin guards, and cleats. NO PLAYER WILL ALLOW ON THE FIELD WITHOUT A PROPER UNIFORM. It is no distinction, every registered or legal player must have black shorts, and socks color of that player’s respective team. We strive to maintain discipline, and good representation/image while being a player of BPL. We assume pictures can be taken at any time and games can be recorded as well. For this reason, we must maintain a good appearance at all times. We also incline to prevent Illegal players to take the field with no regard to proper registration. The city of Plantation and BPL are very strict on that. Any violation will result in the team forfeiting the game being played.
To register, you need to:

Eligibility of Participation

Females: Players must be at least 18 years old to an unlimited number.
Rules standard during games
- Broward Professional League will follow the FIFA Soccer Rules and Regulations along with an adaptation to the City of Plantation rules; except, substituting a similar player is unlimited as the team feels necessary.
- The league expects every team to play their scheduled game, whether or not that team has a poor standing for the post-season. If a team cannot make it to a game, that team has to inform the league 48 hours or more. In the event, a team forfeits a game in less than 48 hours that team is obliged to pay the league $75.oo as a penalty. The inconvenient fee will be sent to the city of Plantation. This rule is to be reinforced according to the city’s request.
Player Conduct:
- Two yellow cards are equivalent to a red card and one single red card is also an automatic 1 game suspension. Any player engaging in dispute/using inappropriate language will escalate the punishment to an additional game suspension ( 2 games suspension)
- Any physical fight/altercation is an automatic 2 games suspension.
- No daunting of referees will be allowed; respectful communication is acceptable
- No slide-tackles allowed. This is a measure to prevent or minimize the risk of injuries.
Tackling another player is an automatic yellow or red card depending on the severity. The Referee is responsible to make the decision.
- No cursed words or foul language allowed on the field or side-line.
- Good sportsmanship conduct is required from all players. That includes no fighting or
Pushing……
- Avoid arguing with referees, teammates, or another team.
- Problems or concerns are addressed to the team captain during game time we ask that
there is respectful/cordial communication between captains, referees, and players. In the event, a captain notices a player is argumentative and out of control with the referee, that captain has the responsibility to remove that player from the game for a 5 min cool-off time. Likewise, the referee can proactively act, sitting the player for 5 minutes player continues with the same behavior, and that player is to be pulled off the game for that Occurrence.
- If a referee issues a yellow, red, or PK to a player for whatever reason: done deal, except we encourage Fairness, and conference with the sideline referee if the call is obviously controversial. A bad call or protestation can always be received with a calm demeanor…no escalation. Most of the time, the player’s reaction to a call escalated to something else. Everyone must understand, we play the game to exercise, win or lose. We must pay attention to those people who left their busy schedules to come and watch us play. We have to be kind enough to entertain family members, friends, and kids of future generations. We are preparing to or have any intention to play in the World Cup. Every single one of us has the responsibility to make it fun and have fun. All starts with us and ends with the referees.
Playing Time/Length of Game
Teams will play 4 quarters of 20 minutes each with a 3-5 min interval time between each quarter.
Player Requirement:
- Each team must have at least 2 females on the field at all times, and the team will play a maximum of nine (9) men.
- A team that does not meet the required 2 females will play a player down for each missing female player. If a team desires to play with more than 2 female players, it is up to that team.
Player Uniform/Attire:
- Every player must wear the approved league uniform respective to their team (shin guards, and cleats that have no spikes) and the same color of socks. No other clothing will be accepted on the field. Contrary to that, a player has to sit on the bench. The captain is in charge to make sure his/her team is well represented with proper uniform and ready to play. The goal as indicated before is to prevent the illegal player from getting on the field and to facilitate the identification of a player with a jersey number. Referees have a hard time knowing who and what does what and when. Good image and positive projection are key to our operation. That being said, no player is allowed on the field without an appropriate and approved league uniform.
- Jewelry and metal hair accessories are not allowed.
Provisions for adding players:
- A team will be allowed to add and replace players that DO NOT SHOW UP for three (3) consecutive games regardless of the circumstances. Adding player(s) must fill out the registration and waiver forms. That player must be approved by the league before playing any game.
- Players can be added up to game 5 and allowed to participate in the second half of the season; the league will decide the new player registration fee based on the distribution of the original payment fee.
Refunds: Refund is only given to a player who never steps on the field. Once a player steps on the field, regardless of the number of minutes played, there is no refund.
